Kai from Sai – Meals with Love
By Ormiston Senior College, Auckland 2024
What’s Good in your Hood Video Series
‘What’s Good in your Hood’ is a Bring it On initiative designed for our students to share knowledge and highlight good things that are happening in their neighbourhoods with the hope to inspire them to get involved with projects that can help others.
Essentially, we want to know ‘What’s good in your Hood’ – captured and illustrated through video. Each video submission earns BIOD Teams 10 points to their overall dance score.
Kai from Sai (Meals with Love), first started in October 2018 and is a 7 day a week free vegetarian food program that provides free meals to anyone in need in 7 different locations around Auckland. On average, 1,000 meals per week is distributed.
Watch Ormiston Senior College students get involved with Kai from Sai, preparing some delicious burgers to distribute to those in need.
We chose to share this because giving to the less fortunate is a way for OSC to connect with those who can’t afford to buy a meal for themselves. This is how OSC is able to compassionately connect using teamwork to produce something great to give back to our community.
The Sri Sathya Sai organisation have also introduced a homework club in Otara * Library on a saturday afternoon during term time. It’s a free tuition for basic maths, English and any help that students need or who need a little more support.
If you would like to find out more or do some service in the community there are many opportunities to get involved!
