Waokauri Stream Project in Aorere
By Aorere College, Auckland 2025
What’s Good in your Hood Video Series
‘What’s Good in your Hood’ is a Bring it On initiative designed for our students to share knowledge and highlight good things that are happening in their neighbourhoods with the hope to inspire them to get involved with projects that can help others.
Essentially, we want to know ‘What’s good in your Hood’ – captured and illustrated through video. Each video submission earns BIOD Teams 10 points to their overall dance score.
WATCH and FIND OUT how this project is building Leadership Skills in Aorere Youth!
Meet the Leaders of AO Dance Academy and Aidan Kiely who worked at Aorere College for 10 years.
Six years ago Aidan Kiely founded an annual project, Waokauri Stream Ecosystem for the Youth of Aorere to develop their knowledge upon;
- Social Issues
- Actions
- Leadership Skills
This Project helps Our Generation stop the Curse of Natural Disasters, Water Pollution, Biodiversity Loss etc.
Due to Aorere bringing it on, the Stream has majorly improved from six years ago. If Aorere can do it down at the Waokauri Stream, then it can also apply to you.
I enjoyed the Waokauri Stream cleanup because it helped me with my Leadership Skills and it also taught me a lot about the environment and a lot about how;
A small piece of rubbish can make a big impact on our environment.
